Number Selection
How Best To Choose Your Numbers
|
|
With
many scientific number selection methods to choose from,
experts recommend sticking to some basic facts. These
are some of the ground rules you must remember: |
 |
1. PLAY A BALANCED GAME
When selecting Lotto numbers, try to strike
a balance between odd and even numbers, as well as high
and low numbers.
Odds & Evens
All odd or all even numbers are rarely
drawn, occurring only 2% of the time. The best mix is to
have 2/4, 4/2 or 3/3, which means two odd and four even,
or four odd and two even, or three odd and three even.
One of these three patterns will occur in about 80% of
the drawings.
High & Low Numbers
Winning numbers are usually spread across
the entire number field. In a 40-number game, for
example, numbers 1 to 20 would be in the low half, and
numbers 21 to 40 would be in the high half. In a
49-number game, numbers 1 to 24 would be in the low
half, and numbers 35 to 49 would be in the high half.

It's very rare that all high or all low
numbers are drawn. This occurs only 2% of the time. The
best combination is to have 2/4; 4/2; or 3/3; which
translates to two high and four low numbers; four high
and two low numbers; or, three high and three low
numbers.
Winning number groups with these three
patterns occur more than 82% of the time for the simple
reason that Lottery numbers are randomly drawn. If you
want to play Lotto to win, it's important to select the
Lottery numbers in patterns most similar to the way the
numbers are actually drawn.
Most Lottery experts say that randomly
drawn numbers tend to have their sums distributed in a
bell-shaped curve. The range of all possible sums in a
49-number Lotto game is from 21 to 279. If the number
combinations that could be made with the possible sums
were to be plotted out, the result would be a
bell-shaped curve, with the sums 21 and 279 at the tail
end.
Best Sums
In a Pick-6 Lotto game with a 49-number
field, there is only one six-number combination that
adds up to 21: 1 + 2 + 3+ 4 + 5 +6= 21
And, in the 6/49 Lotto game, only one
six-number combination adds up to 279: 44 + 45 + 46 + 47
+ 48 + 49= 279
These combinations have the smallest and
largest possible sums. And they occur only once - at the
tail ends of a bell curve - making it virtually
impossible for either of those groups of numbers to be
drawn as winning combination.
HOT TIP: In the 49-number Lotto
game, the most frequently occurring sum is 150.

This is due to the fact that the greatest
percentage of six-number combinations in a 6/49 game
adds up to 150. There are numerous different ways to
make a six number combination that adds up to 150. So
theoretically, six-number combinations that add up to
150 are the most likely to occur in a randomly-drawn
49-number Lotto game.
The 150 sum would be at the top center
point of the bell curve, while higher or lower sums move
away up to the extreme ends (combinations 21 and 279). |

2. MONITOR
PREVIOUS GAMES
Most Lotto players don't realize the
importance of monitoring past Lotto Draw results. But
tracking or analyzing the frequency of numbers from
previous Draws rates the numbers' past performance in
order to determine its chances of being drawn again in
the future.
Best Numbers & Hot Numbers
Best Numbers are those numbers that have
come out in past Draws with the greatest frequency. Hot
Numbers are those which are most overdue for a Draw.
Lottery experts say that high frequency (best) numbers
which are also very overdue (or hot) make the very best
bets.
Adjacent Numbers
Adjacent Numbers are numbers on either side
of the Lotto numbers that hit in the last drawing. To
illustrate, if the number 28 hit in the last drawing,
its Adjacent Numbers would be 27 or 29 for the next
drawing. Or, if number 35 just won in the last game, its
Adjacent Numbers for the next game would be 34 or 36.
It's a good idea to give special attention
to the Adjacent Numbers of the last game's winners
because an average of one or two Adjacent Numbers come
up each drawing. More than 80% of the drawings have one
or more Adjacent Numbers, averaging 1.4 Adjacent Numbers
per game.
Number Groups
Look at a list of past winning numbers for
the Lotto game you play, and you'll see, more often than
not, that one or more of the number groups is not
represented. For example, in the combination
5-15-18-32-38-42, there are no 20's. Tracking and
studying Number Groups can help you decide which group
to omit and which group to give extra heavy play.
Games Skipped
List the number of games skipped since the
last hit for each of the winning numbers during the last
five games. Then, mark the number of times each skip
occurred. If any skip from 0 to 5 did not occur, play
the numbers out that many games. |

3. USE A
WHEELING SYSTEM
Wheeling refers to the method used
to incorporate more than 6 numbers into the number
combinations you would like to play. Say, for example,
you've chosen 7 favorite numbers to play in a Pick-6
Lotto. You can wheel these 7 numbers into different
6-number combinations and play these combinations so
that all 7 numbers are included in your play.
